The Dekati® Diluter DI-1000 is a low-cost, simple and easy-to-operate device for diluting aerosol and gaseous samples from any source. The simplicity, ability to withstand high temperatures and the robustness of the all stainless-steel design have made it a widely renowned choice for dilution of combustion aerosols.

The nominal dilution factor for a single Dekati® Diluter is 1:8 but the instrument can also be provided with different dilution factors. Every Dekati® Diluter is individually calibrated with traceably calibrated flow and pressure sensors and provided with an individual calibration certificate and data sheet.

Dekati® Diluter is an excellent tool for any simple dilution need. Its robust, stainless steel construction makes it the choice for aerosol dilution in almost any environment from laboratory studies to a power plant environment and engine emission measurement systems. In engine and power plant emission measurements the Dekati® Diluter is typically used in a two-stage Dekati® Double Diluter -configuration, where the first Dekati® Diluter is heated and the second operates at ambient temperature. This way unwanted condensation and nucleation can be eliminated and the measured particle concentration and size distribution results are more stable and repeatable. In addition, the sample can be taken directly from the tailpipe or power plant stack into the Dekati® Double Diluter setup thus eliminating the need for large full-flow sampling systems to carry out particle or gas measurements. The Dekati® Diluter and the Dekati® Double Diluter setup can be used together with any Dekati® Fine Particle Measurement instrument or instruments from other suppliers.

The operation principle of the Dekati® Diluter DI-1000 is based on ejection dilution. Purified pressurised dilution air flows at high speed around the ejector nozzle and causes a pressure drop which draws a sample automatically through the nozzle. The raw sample is instantaneously diluted as it mixes with the dilution airflow, thus always providing a homogeneous and stable sample. The use of ejector dilution eliminates the need for any complex flow control devices or pumps. Only purified pressurised air is needed to operate the diluter.

Heated Dekati® Double Diluter setup

Dekati® Diluter is typically applied for combustion aerosol dilution in a two-stage Dekati® Double Diluter -setup where the first Dekati® Diluter is heated and the second operates at ambient temperature. This way unwanted condensation and nucleation during dilution can be eliminated and the measured results are more stable and repeatable. In addition, the sample can be taken directly from the tailpipe into the Dekati® Double Diluter setup thus eliminating the need for large full-flow sampling systems to carry out particle or gas measurements.
