Applications

Dekati SDI impactor is specially designed for analyzing the elemental composition of particles with PIXE (Proton Induces X-ray emission); the particles are collected on substrates with 8 mm deposit area which can directly be used for analysis. The small sample size is favorable also for other analytical methods that are sensitive to the particle deposit area. In addition to PIXE, typical applications for SDI include ion chromatography analysis and thermal analysis of carbonaceous components. The impactor can also be used for gravimetric size distribution measurements. Typical applications for the SDI are related to air quality; source apportionment studies, background concentration measurements and indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring.
