Specifications
DGI is a 5-stage cascade low pressure impactor. An impactor has two co-linear plates; the other one acts as a collection surface for the particles, the other one has small nozzle or nozzles in it to control the flow velocity. After the sample passes through the nozzles it is turned sharply before the collection plate; particles larger than stage cut diameter cannot follow the flow stream lines but are impacted on the collection plate. Particles smaller that the stage cut diameter continue to the following impactor stages where they are further size classified or collected.
Spare Impactor for ELPI™ ELPI™ unit is always provided with one impactor unit. Spare impactors are available as accessories; while the other impactor is being serviced, the other impactor can be used inside the ELPI™ unit to make measurements making it possible to make continuous measurements even during service breaks. Sintered collection plates are designed to prevent common problems in impactor measurements: impactor overloading and particle bounce. Instead of collecting the particles on a smooth aluminium foil the collection area is vacuum oil embedded porous metal. When the particles are collected on the plates the oils seeps up due to capillary forces and thus the impaction always occurs to a liquid surface effectively eliminating bouncing.
