AutomotiveELPI™ for Automotive Exhaust Measurements One of ELPI™’s main applications is automotive/engine exhaust measurements. The instrument can be used to measure emissions from engines that run on diesel, gasoline, different bio-fuels etc. ELPI™ provides second-by-second data on the particle size distribution and concentration making it a useful tool especially in measuring particle emissions during different standard drive cycles (e.g. FTP, ECE-EUDC). ELPI™ has been widely used in engine emission studies, more information on suitable setups can be found here. The selection of the correct sampling system is important especially in vehicle exhaust measurements when particle distributions are measured. With a properly designed sampling system, particle losses and transformations can be minimised during sample transport, dilution and cooling.
